After three seasons in the NHL, the Las Vegas Golden Knights will finally live up to their team name whenever they step on the ice.

The team unveiled its long-awaited gold metallic jersey, which is its third jersey. The Golden Knights are the first team in league history to utilize metallic gold as their jersey colors.

The team’s new jersey will be part of the rotation starting next season as an alternate home uniform. The new jersey, which uses a metallic gold shimmer in its gold parts, certainly stands out from their home and away jerseys, which largely feature steel gray, black, and white.

Standing out was certainly on the minds of the people who worked on the jersey, which was the idea of team owner Bill Foley and was the result of a two-year collaboration between the league and its manufacturer Adidas. Team officials said that they want the jersey to be recognized and different from those worn by other teams.

“It just makes logical sense to have the Golden Knights have a gold jersey,” chief marketing officer Brian Killingsworth said in a story on the Las Vegas Sun. “It’s going to stand out when you’re watching our games at T-Mobile Arena or on TV. You’ll know Vegas is on the ice.”

The team also unveiled the jersey on their social media pages, which gives fans a closer look at the distinctive metallic gold shimmer and other details. The jersey will be worn with white gloves usually worn with their road jerseys, and steel gray helmets that are worn with their home jerseys.

Aside from taking players into consideration, the jersey will also be ideal for fans who want to feel comfortable when wearing them.

“For us, it’s the lifestyle aspect of it too. We’ve been saying it’s not just a hockey jersey, it’s a fashion statement,” Killingsworth said.

The Golden Knights will enter their fourth season in the NHL seeking their first Stanley Cup after reaching the Finals in their first season as an expansion team. Last season, they finished with a 39-24-8 record, and lost to the Conference Finals to the Dallas stars in five games.

Vegas will soon be the second most recent expansion team after the Seattle Kraken join the fray in 2021.
