Former NFL star Greg Olsen tweeted out a video Thursday morning of his 8-year-old son TJ telling his two siblings last week that he had found a donor match for the heart transplant he needed.

This will warm your heart:

TJ Olsen was born with a congenital heart defect and needed a transplant. A donor was finally found, and he's recovering after undergoing the transplant earlier in the week. Before undergoing this transplant, TJ had needed three open-heart surgeries.

This has been a very difficult time for Greg Olsen and his family, but things appear to be looking up with TJ on the mend. The 8-year-old will remain in a Charlotte hospital for the time being to undergo treatment as he recovers from the transplant.

Greg Olsen wants to make sure his spirits are high:

“We don’t know how long we will be within these hospital walls,” Olsen said, via Charlotte's WBTV. “We do know that we are in full control of our attitudes and our outlook.”

Olsen called his son a “fighter since birth.”

Greg Olsen has done a lot of work in the Charlotte community with his foundation to provide resources and support for families affected by cardiovascular diseases and cancer.

The NFL star spent the majority of his career with the Carolina Panthers after four seasons with the Chicago Bears. He played for the Seattle Seahawks in 2020 before announcing his retirement.

Prayers to Greg Olsen, TJ and the family. Let's hope TJ's recovery goes smoothly.
