Greg Olsen is facing a new challenge off the field. The former NFL tight end who played for the Carolina Panthers, Chicago Bears, and the Seattle Seahawks, revealed on Twitter that his 8-year-old son, TJ, could be needing a heart transplant.

“This past week has been exceptionally challenging for our family. As many of you know, our son TJ has faced serious heart issues since birth. TJ has already undergone 3 open heart surgeries and has survived with a modified heart for his first 8 years of life. Unfortunately, it seems his heart is reaching its end. We are currently working through the process to determine our next steps, which ultimately could lead to a heart transplant.”

This is a difficult situation for any parent, and we could just hope that the Greg Olsen family can see a successful resolution of what they are currently going through. Anyone who's followed Greg Olsen's career will find it easy to root for him, considering that he was one of the classiest players on the field during his NFL career.

TJ Olsen was born with a congenital heart condition, but it's also good to know that he has inherited his father's toughness, as shared by Greg Olsen in another tweet.

“We don’t know how long we will be within these hospital walls. We do know that we are in full control of our attitudes and our outlook. TJ has been a fighter since birth. We are going to get through this as a family and be better off as a result of this experience.”

Greg Olsen last saw action with the Seahawks during the 2020 NFL season.
