New Miami Heat forward Andre Iguodala says Memphis Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant is the Rookie of the Year.

Both Morant and Grizzlies guard Dillon Brooks were critical of the way Iguodala handled his time with Memphis, but the former Finals MVP isn't going to use that as a reason to hate on Ja.

For what it's worth, Morant has established himself as the front runner for the Rookie of the Year Award:

Morant just recorded his first triple-double on Sunday against the Washington Wizards. He's averaging 17.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 7.0 assists on the season while shooting 49.7 percent from the field, 37.6 percent from beyond the arc and 78.1 percent from the free-throw line.

The Grizzlies are a surprising 27-26 on the season. They are in eighth place in the Western Conference standings, a spot no one predicted they would be in before the season started. Most pundits saw Morant and Memphis hanging out in the cellar of the West.

New coach Taylor Jenkins, though, has really connected with his players. Morant and budding star big man Jaren Jackson Jr. already have great chemistry, and when you have two athletes like this who love playing for their coach, the sky really is the limit for the budding Grizzlies franchise.

It would be a lot of fun to watch Ja Morant and the Grizzlies take on LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the playoffs. If the playoffs started today, that's the matchup we would get.
