Earlier this offseason, veteran guard Ben McLemore inked a two-year, $10.7 million deal in free agency with the Memphis Grizzlies.

However, it appears that his debut with the Grizzlies may be delayed as he has reportedly suffered a broken foot that will force him to miss the next few months, according to RealGM.

Ben McLemore will be out for 12 weeks with a non-displaced fracture of the fifth metatarsal in his right foot. The injury occurred when he landed on another player’s foot after driving to the basket during a pick-up game in Los Angeles.

The timeframe of the injury should force him to be sidelined for at least the first month of the season that is set to begin Oct. 17. Given the nature of the ailment, the Grizzlies may also elect to take a more precautionary route that could lead to more time on the mend for the 24-year-old.

He is coming off a productive season in a limited role with the Sacramento Kings where he averaged 8.1 points on 43 percent shooting from the field and a career-high 38.2 percent from beyond the arc with 2.1 rebounds in 19.3 minutes per contests in 61 games played with 27 starts.

In McLemore's absence, Memphis will likely lean more heavily on offseason addition Tyreke Evans to play a more extended role while rookie Dillon Brooks could see an opportunity to grab some consistent playing time in the early portion of the season.
