Former Purdue standout Jaden Ivery saw his NBA dream come to fruition on Thursday night after he was selected by the Detroit Pistons as the No. 5 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. Memphis Grizzlies superstar Ja Morant was an avid spectator of the draft and he was absolutely hyped once he heard commissioner Adam Silver announce Ivey's name.

The Grizzlies All-Star point guard quickly took to Twitter to share his hyped reaction to the Pistons' decision to scoop up Ivey at No. 5:

Morant has also heard about the comparisons between himself and Ivey and it appears that the Grizzlies star agrees:

Taylor Rooks of Bleacher Report got a chance to speak to Ivey right after he was drafted and she served as a messenger for Morant as he spent a special message for Ivey. Clearly, the Grizzlies superstar liked Ivey's response:

Ja Morant had quite a bit of fun watching Thursday's festivities. He had his buddies around and they all couldn't help but react to a highlight of one of Morant's best dunks of the season during the broadcast:

It's all good fun for Morant, but the Grizzlies actually have a lot invested in the draft. With a handful of picks available, Memphis could potentially make some noise on Thursday.
