Out of nowhere against the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday, Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant unleashed a vicious slam, which surprised Zion Williamson almost out of his seat.

Morant has built a reputation as one of the most athletic guards in the NBA. But even Williamson, who's also known for his aerial assaults, was caught off guard by Morant's finish. Williamson tried to temper his excitement upon seeing Morant's nasty dunk.

The two were part of the very talented 2019 NBA Draft class. Williamson was selected first overall while Morant was picked next. As expected, both had strong maiden campaigns, This led to a bit of controversy on who should be crowned Rookie of the Year.

Though Williamson played just 24 games due to injuries compared to Morant's 67, some say that the former Duke standout had a greater impact than all of the newcomers that year.

Some analysts, however, believe that Morant almost single-handedly transformed the Grizzlies from a bottom-feeding team to one with great upside, even almost squeezing into the NBA Playoffs last season.

Now in their second year, Ja Morant and Zion Williamson are putting in the work and looking to improve on their rookie stints, with both possibly poised to get their first NBA All-Star nod.
