Memphis Grizzlies fans can now breathe a collective sigh of relief, as X-ray results of Ja Morant's left ankle came back negative.

Per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Morant's X-Rays did not reveal any fracture on his left ankle. The team will continue to evaluate the second-year guard as they await the results of an MRI as early as Tuesday.

This is definitely a welcome development for Memphis, as Morant's nasty ankle injury seems to be less serious than expected. The 2019-20 Rookie of The Year had to be wheeled off the court on Monday after landing awkwardly on the foot of Brooklyn Nets swingman Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot late in the first half. Morant was seen in agonizing pain as he hopped his way off the court before he was taken out in a wheelchair.

The 21-year-old was having himself quite the hot start this 2020-21. Ja Morant dropped 44 points in their season-opener against the San Antonio Spurs and followed it up with a 28-point effort against Trae Young and the Atlanta Hawks. He was also averaging eight dimes per game and was shooting at an efficient 58.3 percent coming into the game in Brooklyn.

The Grizzlies are hoping that Morant gets to come back sooner rather than later, as they'd need all of him back to continue to lead the young Memphis team. With Morant out, back-up point guard Tyus Jones is expected take over the playmaking duties while swingmen Dylon Brooks and Kyle Anderson are set to carry the load on offense.
