The Memphis Grizzlies are finishing the framework to make J.B. Bickerstaff their head coach for the next few seasons, according to Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports.

Bickerstaff had been the interim coach of the team for the vast majority of the season after former head coach David Fizdale was fired by the franchise, following an eight-game losing streak early in the season.

Memphis has decided to keep its coaching search in house, giving Bickerstaff the chance to lead this roster through its rebuild.

The Grizzlies will have a lot of questions to address — among them, the happiness of Marc Gasol, Mike Conley Jr.'s injury recovery and a no-brainer draft strategy after striking out in several draft picks in recent memory.

This would be Bickerstaff's first shot as a full-fledged head coach, being an interim for the Houston Rockets at the wake of Kevin McHale's firing during the 2015-16 season. He's had over eight seasons of experience as an assistant in the league and can prove to be a fit for a team that will need some mending before becoming a contender in the Western Conference.
