Dejounte Murray of the Atlanta Hawks hit a game-winning shot against the Orlando Magic to give Atlanta a 106-104 win, and after the game, Murray gave the Magic and young players like Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner a lot of credit during his interview on the court.
“I mean they're a great team,” Dejounte Murray said on the broadcast after the game. “I got nothing but love and respect for their coach. I see the way he coached the whole 48 minutes every single night. They got a bunch of young talented guys, so there's no surprise. They're an up-and-coming team, they're showing that they're here right now. Led by Paolo and Wagner.”
Murray had a good game overall for the Hawks, leading all scorers with 26 points, and putting up five rebounds and assists. The win brought the Hawks to 17-23, and it could be the start of something that brings them back into the conversation in the Eastern Conference.
Paolo Banchero himself had a good game for the Magic, scoring 26 with four assists and four rebounds. Orlando fell to 22-19 with the loss.
Murray has been dealing with trade rumors, and it has been seen as near an inevitability that the Hawks would trade him, as he has not been the best fit next to Trae Young. That still might happen, but he is still doing his best to make the Hawks a winner.
Up next for the Hawks is a road game against the Miami Heat on Friday, before playing the second end of a back-to-back at home against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday
