John Collins will be an All-Star ‘really soon,' at least that's what an Atlanta Hawks coach believes

Per Keith P. Smith of Real GM, one of the Hawks coaches believes that Collins will become one of the better players in the league given his rebounding ability and inside scoring. The main part of his game that needs improvement is defense, but the anonymous coach thinks that it'll come sooner than later.

“He’s going to be an All-Star really soon,” the said Hawks coach emphasized. He’s already a great rebounder and scorer inside. We’ll challenge him to stretch his range even more this year. He took three three-pointers per game last year (2.6 3PA), and hit 35% (34.8 3P%), so it’s there for him. Needs to get better defensively, but that will come.”

Collins was the 19th overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. In his rookie year with the Hawks, he made it to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team. Come his second year, he took his game up a notch by logging in impressive numbers: 19.2 points, 9.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists across 30 minutes per game. He also shot 56 percent from the field and 76.3 percent from the free-throw line.

Since 2007 to 2019, the Hawks have only missed the playoffs twice: last year and the year before. This 2019-20, they'll enter the season with a new and improved Collins, along with Rookie of the Year runner-up Trae Young and lottery picks DeAndre Hunter and Cam Reddish.

Who knows what the future has in store for the Hawks? However, no one will be shocked if they make it to the playoffs in the upcoming season.
