The Atlanta Hawks just can't seem to catch a break as John Collins has now entered the league's health and safety protocols. Shortly after Collins was announced, Jalen Johnson also entered the protocols and made him the 10th player in the Hawks organization to enter the league's health and safety protocols.

This is unfortunate news for a Hawks team who is obviously already severely shorthanded due to the protocols. Factor in that they are not playing great basketball at all this season, and this just isn't what they wanted. They're 15-17 on the year and even when everybody has been healthy, they just haven't looked like a great team.

Situations like this could severely ruin a team's season and a team like the Hawks who have Championship aspirations, could potentially not make the playoffs because of dealing with all of these issues. They are already in 11th place in the Eastern Conference and it doesn't look like that's going to improve anytime soon because they should lose more games now with everybody who's going to be out.

They're coming off a tough loss against the New York Knicks on Christmas as they lost 101-87. John Collins played excellent basketball as he finished with 20 points and eight rebounds but couldn't do enough to help the Hawks secure a victory. Perhaps the NBA could step in and shut the Hawks season down for a week or two to let them get things under control.
