The Atlanta Hawks have just propelled themselves into contender territory after pulling the trigger on a blockbuster trade that will see Dejounte Murray join Trae Young in a new-look backcourt. These are two bonafide All-StarS, and at this point, the rest of the NBA must take notice.

The numbers don't lie and the fact that both Young and Murray put up some eye-popping stats last season should serve as a testament to the fact that this new Hawks pairing could be unlike anything we've ever seen in league history (h/t ESPN Stats & Info):

Trae Young and Dejounte Murray will be the 1st pair of teammates in NBA history who each averaged 20 points per game and 8 assists per game in the previous season.

Last season, Young averaged 28.4 points and 9.7 assists for the Hawks. On the other hand, Murray put up 21.1 points and 9.2 dimes for the San Antonio Spurs, along with 7.1 rebounds and a league-best 2.0 steals. Something's gotta give, though, and we should expect a diP in production (at least scoring-wise) in either one or both of them. Right?

Either way, the Hawks now have one of the most dynamic backcourt pairings in the NBA, and it sounds like they're not done just yet.
