The Atlanta Hawks are making some significant changes to the roster, starting with the decision to acquire Dejounte Murray in a huge trade with the San Antonio Spurs, sending Danilo Gallinari and a treasure trove of draft picks in exchange. According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Hawks are just getting started. Speaking on ESPN, Wojnarowski reported that the Hawks are still engaged in trade talks for power forward John Collins.

“… Atlanta, they're not done dealing yet. They still have been engaged on John Collins, and I think fundamentally, there's going to be some more changes in Atlanta, but they're pretty excited about the idea of Dejounte Murray joining Trae Young.”

While the Hawks have nailed down their backcourt of the future, the team is apparently still ready to make some changes to the frontcourt. The next change coming to Atlanta will most likely be a deal to ship Collins out of town, though exactly what they're seeking in return remains to be seen.

There had been rumors that Collins was being discussed as part of the Dejounte Murray trade, but ultimately it was Gallinari who was sent from Atlanta to San Antonio. He is expected to be bought out by the Spurs in the coming days, at which point various teams will be interested in adding the sharpshooter.

Collins signed a five-year, $125 million deal with the Hawks in 2021. He's making an average of $25 million per season through the 2025-26 season. Last year in Atlanta, Collins averaged 16.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks per game.
