Trae Young has received loads of media attention since Draft night. He was selected 5th overall by the Dallas Mavericks, who then traded him to the Atlanta Hawks. Though the spotlight seems to be getting brighter by the day, the former Big 12 Freshman of the Year is prepared for the challenges that await all NBA players in their rookie season.

It's true, Young has always been known as a great shooter and ball-handler. In fact, some have compared his style of play to that of Golden State Warriors All-Star Steph Curry. However, Young still has a few critics lurking in the proverbial weeds, though it sounds like he's ready to prove his worth.

“What about you prepares you for the scrutiny that will continuously lie ahead?” a reporter asked Young after Atlanta's 101-93 Summer League victory over the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday.

“I think the thing for me is that I've been through this before,” Young replied with a bit of a smile. “I mean, high school, on to college, and now here (in the NBA), I think the best thing about it is that I've been through it — It prepared me for this level.

“I know I have a lot of eyes watching me, but I've worked extremely hard to have that opportunity,” Young continued. “I know God has blessed me with the ability to play and perform in front of a lot of people, so I just try to do that as best as possible.”

Just for the record: Young posted 24 points (seven three-pointers) and five assists in Tuesday's win over the Bulls.

Young, 19, made 32 appearances with the Oklahoma Sooners in his rookie season (all starts), averaging a whopping 27.4 points on 42.2 percent shooting from the field (36.0 percent from beyond the arc), 8.7 assists, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.7 steals in 35.4 minutes per game.

Young and the Hawks will be back for more Summer League action on Wednesday night, as they're scheduled to face the Indiana Pacers at 8:30 p.m. EST. NBATV will have live broadcast coverage.
