As the Atlanta Hawks closed out the season on Sunday, guard Trae Young made history as he led the Hawks to a regular-season finale win and provided some much-needed momentum heading into the NBA Play-In Tournament.

Young joins superstars James Harden and Russell Westbrook as the only three players since the ABA-NBA merger to record 29 or more games with at least 25 points scored and 10 assists. In a 130-point rout of the Houston Rockets on Sunday, Young would drop 28 points and 11 assists along with five rebounds.

Young took to Twitter after the game to share his excitement and to hype up the Atlanta Hawks faithful as they prepare to take on the 10th-seeded Charlotte Hornets at home in the NBA Play-In Tournament. A game whose winner will move on to play the loser of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Brooklyn Nets game on Friday in the second round of the the tournament.

Trae Young finishes the season as one of thejleague's premier players, nearly averaging a double-double with 28.4 points and 9.7 assists per game, and only missing seven games throughout the entirety of the season.

The Hawks finished the 2021-2022 regular season with a record of 43-39 which was good enough to land them the ninth-seed in the NBA's Eastern Conference, and a trip to the NBA Play-In Tournament. Should the Hawks be victorious in both matchups this week, they would secure the eighth and final spot in this year's Eastern Conference playoffs and start off the postseason with a series against Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat.
