The Atlanta Hawks had been holding their breath ever since star point guard Trae

Young had to be helped to the locker room during Wednesday's game against the New York Knicks. However, the Hawks star avoided a major injury and should be back after the swelling and discomfort are gone, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Young went down hard and had to be helped to the locker room. After the rash of injuries that has hit the NBA this season, this one looked bad initially. Thankfully for the Hawks- and for the NBA- Young should be fine in the long run.

With injuries to superstars like James Harden, LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Kawhi Leonard, and Kevin Durant to name a few, the question of the shortened offseason has been tossed around as a possibility of the reason why these injuries have piled up.

For the Hawks and Young, this is terrific news, especially with Atlanta on the verge of a playoff spot. Young has had a terrific year despite being left out of the All-Star Game. He's posted averages of  25.4 points and 9.5 rebounds this season.

What's even more impressive is the huge list of injuries Atlanta has had to overcome this season, as well as firing head coach Lloyd Pierce midseason. Despite all that, Young has his team on the verge of a top-five seed in the East and the potential to get into the second round- a huge accomplishment for a team that many had overlooked at the beginning of the season.

Rest up Trae and get back to the court as soon as possible.
