Vince Carter is known as one of the nicest players in the NBA. Even though the Atlanta Hawks swingman is far gone from his prime playing days, he's still in the league and using his leadership for good. On Monday, Carter saw Kevin Durant's mother on the sideline and walked over to her and said “Hi.”

Not many athletes would make time in their day to be kind to an opposing player's mother. This just goes to show how good of a person Carter is.

Carter in his younger days was considered by many to be one of the best dunkers of his generation. His infamous dunk in the Olympics is all over YouTube. He was a high-flyer and one of the league's most exciting superstars. He averaged over 20 points per game 11 times throughout his 20-year career. The 42-year-old veteran had one of the best careers of any scorer.

Now, Carter has taken on the role of veteran leader for the Hawks. Many stars late in their careers don't know how to take on a lesser role. They still want to put up 20 shots every game. Carter is an outlier. He embraces his own ability and enjoys the role of, no pun intended, role-player.

This season for the Hawks, Carter has averaged 15.8 minutes per game, producing 6.3 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.0 assist while shooting 40.6 percent from the field and 37.1 percent from beyond the arc.

The Hawks, as of this writing, are 17-35 and sit at the 12th spot of the NBA's Eastern Conference. They continue to chase a high lottery pick while rebuilding.
