Things have gone by the wayside for the Atlanta Hawks in 2019-20. Entering play Sunday, they sit with a 6-24 record on the year, which finds them in the cellar of the Eastern Conference. But that doesn't mean that the team hasn't explored ways to improve it's roster for not only this season, but years beyond.

Shams Charania of The Athletic has reported that Oklahoma City could be interested in moving players who have high-salary long-term deals currently on the books, one of whom is center Steven Adams. Per Chris Kirschner of The Athletic, Adams is a name the Hawks have discussed and may be open to acquiring.

Currently, Atlanta has a collaboration of big men running through the center spot who have failed to take hold of the role. The duo of Damian Jones and Alex Len have essentially split time, although neither has established themselves over the length of their career in the same manner Adams has.

Adams is on the hook for over $27.5 million for next season, which while gaudy, would be a number the cap-savvy Hawks would be able to absorb. After dealing with a knee ailment at the start of the season, Adams has bounced back to be on pace to set a new career high in rebounding, grabbing 9.6 on a nightly basis.

The first six-plus seasons of Adams' career have come in OKC. The Hawks will undoubtedly be forced to make outside additions to the current roster if they hope to snag a playoff bid as soon as 2020-21, and Steven Adams is a name to watch.
