Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young almost had the play of the season on Monday at the expense of Toronto Raptors guard Fred VanVleet.

Young put the ball through VanVleet's legs, but wasn't able to finish off the play by making the shot.

Still, it was a cool play by Young:

In 39 games this season entering Monday’s contest against the Raptors, Young is averaging 28.8 points, 4.6 rebounds and 8.5 assists. He’s shooting 44.5 percent from the field, 37.4 percent from beyond the arc and 83.8 percent from the free-throw line. Young recorded his 14th double-double in the first half against Toronto.

Young has been invited to participate in the 3-Point Contest and Skills Challenge during All-Star Weekend. The Hawks would certainly love to have Young represent the franchise in Chicago during All-Star Weekend in what has been a dreadful season.

All signs point toward Trae Young making his first All-Star team as well, even despite the Hawks' awful record. He’s first in fan voting for Eastern Conference guards.
