It's no secret Hayden Christensen gets a lot of flak for his role as Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars' prequel films in years past. Now, the sentiment has changed and fans are now looking forward to his comeback in the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series on Disney+. But before anyone even gets a glimpse of his Darth Vader, the actor reveals one epic detail that helped him prepare for his comeback.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Christensen said that reprising his Star Wars role as Darth Vader for the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series meant revisiting the franchise's major projects. The actor that along with the films, he binged on Clone Wars and Rebels.

“It was interesting. They did a lot with these characters in those shows. And they did further explore the relationship. There was interesting stuff there to learn about. It was great fun getting to go back and re-immerse yourself in this world that just continues to grow and become more and more vast,” Christensen said.

Star Wars: Clone Wars premiered in 2008 on Cartoon Network and ran for seven seasons. While the prequel films were blasted by Star Wars fans during this time, the animated series slowly won them over, thanks to a better storyline and more attention focused on characterization, most notably Anakin Skywalker.

Meanwhile, Rebels is the natural successor to Clone Wars by exploring the era between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. During the course of its four-season run, several of the show's protagonists encountered Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi at different points. These important moments, along with the expanded story offered by Clone Wars, could have helped Christensen get a better grasp of his role as Darth Vader for the upcoming Star Wars series on Disney+.

Along with his appearance on Obi-Wan Kenobi, Christensen is also confirmed to reprise his Darth Vader role for Ahsoka. The said series will feature his former apprentice, the same one introduced in Clone Wars, and the primary group from Rebels, two shows the actor has recently binge-watched.

Without a doubt, Christensen got a lot of inspiration from these two animated shows. With Obi-Wan set to premiere in a little more than a month, it'll only be a matter of time before Star Wars fans get to see whether the actor lives up to expectations.
