Miami Heat veteran swingman Andre Iguodala, most know for his invaluable role in three championship runs with the Golden State Warriors, has recently opened up about his nickname, “Iggy.” As it turns out, the 36-year-old is not actually too fond of the same.

“I don't love it, but I don't mind it,” he said during an Instagram Live broadcast Wednesday. “I've learned that sometimes you gotta just embrace certain things, and that's one thing I've learned to embrace.”

Now that he's mentioned it, “Iggy” doesn't really scream machismo, nor does it strike fear in the hearts of opponents. I mean it's not bad, but it absolutely pales in comparison to some of the best NBA monikers we have had, such as “The Black Mamba,” “The King,” “Magic,” “The Dream” —  the list goes on.

Then again, as Iguodala mentioned above, it's not as if there's anything he could do about it, so instead of complaining about it, he has just learned to live with it.

Nickname or no nickname, Iguodala has had a tremendous NBA career to date. He is a one-time All-Star, a two-time All-Defensive team member, a former Finals MVP winner, and as mentioned previously, a three-time NBA champ.

Last February, after finally reaching an agreement with his former team, the Memphis Grizzlies, Iguodala was able to make the move to Miami. With his new squad, he hopes to bring his veteran presence and championship experience to a young and aspiring Heat side.
