There appears to be some interesting dynamics between Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra and new team superstar Jimmy Butler at this point in the offseason.

There is not love lost between these two, and apparently, they kicked off their newly-formed relationship by being brutally honest with each other. According to NBA insider Tim Reynolds, Spoelstra and Butler admitted how they hated each other during their time as adversaries.

That's one way to start a relationship, I guess. No offense appears to have been taken by either party, so it is likely that these sentiments were exchanged with the utmost of mutual respect.

Having been in the Eastern Conference for the majority of his career, Butler has faced off with Spoelstra's Heat in the playoffs in the past. In the 2012-13 season, Butler and his Chicago Bulls battled with a LeBron James-led Heat side in the second round, which did not end well for Butler and company.

Some six years later, their paths cross again, but this time, with Butler becoming Miami and Spoelstra's new cornerstone superstar. After arriving this offseason via a sign-and-trade deal with the Philadelphia 76ers, the torch had been passed to Butler as the team's new talisman.

Following a tumultuous past few seasons, Butler appears to be in a better place right now emotionally, as he looks to lead a revamped Heat side to hopefully, many more playoff runs in the coming years.
