It's not every day that you hear art being brought up in the NBA, but the Miami Heat's Jimmy Butler definitely went there.

Butler just made his debut for the Heat against the San Antonio Spurs, and they beat the team handily. He talked about how his life has been so far.

He told Page Six's Carlos Greer that while his life is a masterpiece, he doesn't see himself as a traditional work of art that people of all ages can appreciate.

“I’m not saying I’m a piece of art. What I’m saying is that some people don’t understand a Picasso, but you have to take the damn Picasso anyway because it’s a Picasso,” he told Haute Living magazine.

“I think I’m that way. You may not understand me, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to change. A Picasso is going to stay a Picasso. But seriously, I’m not a Picasso — I’m more like a Banksy!”

Picasso is known for eccentric art that is well-beloved by art fans all over the world. Meanwhile, a lot of Banksy's work is meant to challenge the definition of art. Not everybody loves his art as it usually questions people in power and challenges societal norms.

With that in perspective, it is then understandable why Butler would make such a comparison. He's not the most beloved player in the league. However, he's doing everything he can to make himself the best player he can be. For example, he's in constant communication with Alonzo Mourning to learn about what it's like to be a member of the Miami Heat.

This is gearing up to be an exciting season for the Heat, and the fans hope that Butler will be as engaging and interesting on the court as the artist he compares himself to.
