Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade was one of the first personalities to congratulate his former team for advancing to the NBA Finals on Sunday night. Wade was particularly happy for the achievement of current Heat talisman Jimmy Butler, and the future Hall of Famer made sure to make his feelings known.

Butler appreciated the congratulatory message from Wade, and he quickly responded with his appreciation:

While Butler and Wade did not cross paths in Miami, these two were once teammates with the Chicago Bulls. They spent only one season together, but Wade had a tremendous impact on Butler. As a matter of fact, Butler credits Wade for talking up the Heat's culture during their time as teammates — something that stuck with Butler for years until he finally made the big move to Miami last summer.

Butler took a lot of heat after he forced his way off the Minnesota Timberwolves last season. All sorts of narratives came out about Butler being a terrible teammate, with some of them going as far as labeling him as a cancer. Butler hasn't forgotten about that criticism, and what he has achieved with the Heat this season serves as a shoutout to all his haters.

In his succeeding tweet, Butler expressed just that. He quoted fellow All-Star teammate Bam Adebayo about every single player on the Heat playing with something to prove:

Miami enters the NBA Finals as the underdog yet again versus the mighty Los Angeles Lakers. Nevertheless, it would be foolish to count them out at this point.
