After nine dedicated seasons to the Toronto Raptors, Kyle Lowry chose to sign a three-year, $85 million contract with the Miami Heat. Though the veteran guard had an array of destinations to choose from, he ultimately chose Miami for one huge reason: the fit.

The 35-year-old is looking to win his second championship after bringing Toronto a ring back in 2019. He believes the Heat roster, which includes All-Stars Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo, could be just the perfect scenario to win it all, per Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated. Lowry also mentioned that other talents such as Duncan Robinson, Tyler Herro, and P.J. Tucker were all key pieces for a big run in the postseason. Besides the fit and talent surrounding him, the point guard appreciated the culture the Heat had.

Led by head coach Erik Spoelstra and president Pat Riley, the culture of Miami basketball was enticing to Lowry. The idea of working hard, challenging others, and developing a strong mindset was all appealing to the veteran. It also resonated with the guard, who had to overcome a plethora of obstacles to be the successful player he was in Toronto, and currently in Miami.
