Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro has been able to make an immediate impact in the league with his scoring and shooting. And while Herro wasn't invited to the this year's 3-point contest in Chicago, the rookie shooting guard is already setting his sights on next year's contest.
Herro took to Twitter to express his interest in participating in next year's contest which will place in Indianapolis.
As far as this year's contest goes, Sacramento Kings shooting guard Buddy Hield came away the victor, sinking a shot on the last money ball to secure the win.
Other than Hield, Herro's Heat teammate Duncan Robinson, Atlanta Hawks All-Star Trae Young, Washington Wizards sharpshooter Davis Bertans, Phoenix Suns scorer Devin Booker, Charlotte Hornets guard Devonte' Graham, Chicago Bulls high-flyer Zach LaVine and defending champion Joe Harris all participated.
For the season, Herro has been a solid addition to a Heat squad that has proved to be one of the better teams in the Eastern Conference.
Averaging 13.1 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.7 assists off the bench on 41/39/84 shooting splits, the 13th pick of the 2019 draft has shown that he has a bright future in the league.
Among NBA rookies that have made over 100 triples this season, Herro's 39.3 percent clip ranks second behind Toronto Raptors guard Terrence Davis, Meanwhile, his 99 made threes puts him in a tie with teammate Kendrick Nunn for most among rookies.
Tyler Herro isn't the only actual rising star to put his hat in the ring for next year's 3-point shooting contest. Boston Celtics star and first-time All-Star Jayson Tatum has also expressed interest in participating in the future.
