The Miami Heat are looking for their fifth win in a row as they take on the San Antonio Spurs Sunday night. This game will continue our NBA odds series as we hand out a Heat-Spurs prediction and pick. We will also let you know how to watch the game.

The Heat started the season 1-4, but have now brought themselves above .500 as they are playing very good basketball. Bam Adebayo leads the team in both scoring, and rebounding as he is averaging a double-double in his eight games played this season. Tyler Herro was second on the team in scoring, but he is out at least a few weeks with an ankle sprain. Jimmy Butler is averaging 18.4 points per game, but that is his worst scoring season since 2013/14. The Heat are definitely without Herro in this game, but they could be without Butler, as well.

The Spurs started the season off well, but they have gone cold. San Antonio has lost four games in a row, but they do have a couple bright spots. Victor Wembanyama is one of those bright spots. He is averaging 19.9 points, and 8.6 rebounds to lead the team in both those categories. Devin Vassell, Keldon Johnson, and Zach Collins are all averaging double-figures, as well. San Antonio could be without Tre Jones in this game, and that would be a hit to their lineup.

Why The Heat Could Cover The Spread

Miami has been finding ways to win, and different players have stepped up in every game. That is very encouraging when looking at the players that are missing from this game. Miami has not been a super high-scoring team this season, or in the past, so they are a team that relies on their defense. The heat are ninth in scoring defense, and they do it without fouling. Miami does not put their opponents on the line, and that is going to be huge in this game. The only person they have to worry about in this game is Wembanyama. If the Heat can contain him, they will cover the spread.

Why The Spurs Could Cover The Spread

The Spurs are on a losing streak, and only one of those game have really been close. The Spurs need to match the Heat's intensity on the defensive end of the floor. Defense is not something the Spurs are doing well this season, and that makes it very hard to win. If Butler does happen to be out this game along with Herro, the Spurs should not have a problem with defense in this game. The only player they would have to worry about then is Adebayo. However, Wembanyama is long, and lengthy, so he will make it very hard on Adebayo. If the Spurs can find a way to lock in on defense, they will cover the spread.

Final Heat-Spurs Prediction & Pick

This game is going to be close. I truly believe Butler makes a difference, so it is tough to make a prediction not knowing if he will play or not. However, I will work under the assumption that he misses this game. For that reason, I think the Spurs have a great chance to cover the spread.

Final Heat-Spurs Prediction & Pick: Spurs +1 (-110), Under 221.5 (-112)
