The Miami Heat and Philadelphia 76ers are meeting on Thursday for the third time in the last three weeks. With their matchups this season happening over a short span, they are more familiar with their tendencies on the court, which makes their matchup on the night even more highly anticipated.
It also features two of the best centers in the league today, Hassan Whiteside and Joel Embiid, who are battling each other inside the paint.
It did not take long for the two to get physical as they defended each other from the get-go. During the early part of the third quarter, they were even involved in a heated moment. After stopping the All-Star center’s attempt, Whiteside’s arm got entangled with Embiid’s, leading to a push, and both of them receiving personal fouls. The Heat big man was also slapped with a technical foul.

Both teams are in the thick of the battle for higher playoff seeding in the Eastern Conference. The South Beach team are currently in seventh place and are trying to catch the Sixers, who are one spot higher than them, which makes their game on Thursday even more important.
If the visiting team wins, they will win the seasons series, 3-1. The Heat, however, beat Philly this time around, 108-99, to tie their series with the Sixers, 2-2.
Hassan Whiteside and Joel Embiid may have a lot of eyes set on them, but both teams also have other key players who are matched-up against one another. The heated moment only made the game more interesting, which shows how badly they want to end up with the victory.
