The sequel to the critically acclaimed Horizon Zero Dawn has been confirmed. Titled Horizon Forbidden West, its release date scheduled sometime in 2021. Horizon Forbidden West will come out simultaneously on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. While the hype train is rolling fast, we've also just received new gameplay footage for the game. This makes the hype train run even faster. If it's not running fast for you yet, then check out the Horizon Forbidden West gameplay footage as presented during Sony's most recent State of Play.

The gameplay footage revealed so far shows a very beautiful render of Aloy, a great rendition of the environments, and an overall better look for the game. In general, Horizon Forbidden West feels like a safe sequel – it doesn't change much from the original, making it appealing to old fans. However, there are some changes that we can make out from the gameplay footage. They're not a big deal, but still, change up some of the dynamics of the gameplay. One example of this is the prevalence of mounted combat, with enemies riding robo dinos in the trailer. The developers also seemed to have given Aloy more combat options while climbing, and we hope this extends to other traversals as well. Finally, Horizon Forbidden West seems to take its queues from Breath of the Wild as well, adding a glider that's new to the title.

Hopefully, we'll get a lot of new cool tools and weaponsWe also hope that there will be new combat options and customizations. We still want the sequel to be as close to Horizon Zero Dawn as much as possible. However, some innovations will always be welcome as long as the game still feels the same.
