Frank Vogel might not be without a job for very long now. LeBron James' former coach now appears to be in line to take on his next assignment amid reports of Vogel being eyed by the Charlotte Hornets as their next head coach.

According to NBA insider Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report, Vogel is one of the candidates that has recently interviewed for the Hornets head coaching job:

Charlotte is winding down the first round of the Hornets’ head coaching search, according to league sources, having flown to meet several coaches in person as opposed to over Zoom. Frank Vogel, the former Lakers head coach, is among Charlotte’s list of interviewed candidates.

To be clear, however, the Hornets hiring Vogel is anything but guaranteed at this point. In fact, reports indicate that Mike D'Antoni is considered the “leader” in the race for the head coach post in Charlotte.

For his part, Vogel is a strong candidate and he has the silverware to prove it. He's also had the privilege of coaching LeBron James for a few years — not an easy task by any means — which just adds to his already elite coaching cache. Even if Vogel doesn't land the Hornets gig, we don't expect him to remain jobless for very long.
