The Charlotte Hornets take on the Washington Wizards on Friday. The team will have the services of small forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist but will be without center Cody Zeller.

Kidd-Gilchrist missed the previous two games due to a left knee strain. Zeller, meanwhile, is dealing with left knee soreness.

The Hornets enter Friday with a record of 30-37, which is good for 10th place in the Eastern Conference standings.

Both Charlotte and the Wizards are fighting for their playoff lives. The Hornets trail the Miami Heat by two games for the eighth and final playoff spot in the East. Washington, meanwhile, is 11th and trails Miami by 3.5 games.

In 55 games this season for the Hornets, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist is averaging 7.2 points and 4.0 rebounds. The veteran swingman is shooting 48.0 percent from the field, 27.5 percent from beyond the arc and 77.3 percent from the free-throw line.

Hornets coach James Borrego actually removed Kidd-Gilchrist from the playing rotation last week. The veteran didn't play in three games in a row despite healthy for the first time in his NBA career.

Borrego put Kidd-Gilchrist back in the lineup on March 9 against the Wizards at home, a game Charlotte won by one.

Friday is a big game for both teams, and it should be a fun one.
