Former San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker is one of the remaining remnants of the golden age Spurs big 3. It was a big surprise to see him sign with another team with everybody in the league expecting he would play out the rest of his career with the Spurs.

This upcoming season, we see him play with an unfamiliar uniform, team, and teammates. The supposed Spurs lifer, is going to be seen in action with the Charlotte Hornets. In a way, the thought of him playing for another team is surely baffling.

According to AP sports writer Steve Reed's Twitter, Parker approached fellow Frenchman Nicolas Batum about moving to the Hornets.

In the midst of the Kawhi Leonard debacle, the former Spurs point guard sent some sharp comments toward Leonard's way regarding his quad injury. Playing for a total of 9 games last season, Leonard was shut down due to quadriceps tendinopathy.

In relation to Parker, he said in an interview in an unfavorable kind of manner that he has gone through the same thing but a lot worse. He was referring to Leonard joining the squad for the Playoffs.

One thing led to another, Kawhi Leonard is now in Toronto and Parker is now in Charlotte. The real deal about Parker's departure is still mired in controversy. Whether it was for a last decent paycheck, playing with his friend Batum, a different team, or was his departure supposed to be a peace offering for Leonard, we may never clearly know.

What is certain is that this upcoming season, Parker plays back up guard for All-star Kemba Walker in a different uniform. With his basketball wisdom and championship pedigree, he may just be the factor that the Hornets need for a deep playoff push.
