Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged has been announced with an all-new trailer and gameplay features. Since the late 1960s Mattel took the toy world by storm with their brand new scale model cars known as Hot Wheels. Since their inception we've seen tv shows, video games, motorsports promotions, and supposedly a movie that's being produced by Bad Robot Studios.

It's safe to say that the scale-model car toy line isn't going anywhere any time soon. In fact, the all new racing game comes out later this year. You can check out the trailer below:

Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged Release Date – October 19th, 2023

Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged releases on Thursday, October 19th, 2023. The game will come out for Playstation 5, Playstation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam & Epic Games Store

The first installment of the series is now on sale on the Steam and Xbox until June 5th. It's also on sale at Epic Games Store until June 15th. This includes the GOTY and standard editions of the game. Now may be the best time to get into the series for a good price if you were thinking about it.

Gameplay

The game will include over 130 vehicles and will now include motorcycles and ATVs. There's going to be three new categories that differentiate the vehicles performance and ability. Players can also customize their car with skill points. These points give your car the advantage it needs to help you reach 1st place.

There'll be five different settings with their own unique terrain for you to race in. There'll be more objects throughout the course that the drivers can interact with, that may or may not impact the race.

In addition to boosting and drifting, new mechanics will also be implemented. Lateral dashes will allow you to slam into your opponent, while last-second dodges gives you a chance to escape. You can also jump over other racers as well. Each track will have their own set of secrets and shortcuts that players can discover.

New game modes will also be coming to the game. Some of these modes include:

  • A Race against the time or rival mode, which sounds similar to a time trial mode, though we'll learn more as time goes on.
  • A tutorial mode that shows players how to drift in high speeds.
  • Or a mode not centered around racing, but crashing into your opponents to earn points and spread havoc.

Cross-play is confirmed (except for Nintendo Switch) as well as split-screen.

Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 will also bring back the track builder mode that fans were fond of in the first game. There'll be all new sorts of features and toys for you to play around with as you create the course of your dreams. A livery editor was also mentioned, and along with the sticker editor will allow you to create your own designs with specific patterns and shapes.

Story

There will be a new campaign in Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 not present in the first installment. There will be a story that follows four different characters with animated cutscenes. Not much more is known at this point, but it seems there will actually be a narrative this time around. We're curious to see who these new characters are and what their goals are.
