Despite a flurry of transfer rumors dating back to the summer of 2020, Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez has finally committed his future to the club. Per Fabrizio Romano, the Argentine just inked a brand new deal with the reigning Serie A champions that will run until 2026:

This is massive for Inter, who just lost Romelu Lukaku this past summer after he left for Chelsea. Martinez and the Belgian formed a lethal partnership last term en route to the Scudetto, but the side found a very solid replacement for Lukaku in Edin Dzeko, who is producing at a high rate alongside Martinez thus far.

The Argentina international joined Inter in 2018 from Racing Club and has proven to be a key piece of the squad. He bagged 31 league goals across the last two campaigns and is off to another smashing start this term, scoring five times in nine appearances.

At just 24-years-old, the sky is truly the limit for Martinez, who is also a massive part of Argentina, firing home five goals and tallying three assists in World Cup qualifying. The likes of Tottenham and Arsenal were keen on him in past, among others, but by no surprise, Inter was reluctant to sell, hence the massive release clause.

Now, the club has arguably their most important attacker around for the long haul as they look to make another run at the Serie A title in 2021/22. The Nerazzurri currently sit in third spot and trail table-toppers AC Milan by seven points through 10 games.
