After months filled with rumors linking him to Tottenham and Arsenal, Lautaro Martinez has now come to a firm resolution on his future at Inter Milan.

As noted by Sky Sport's Gianluca Di Marzio, Martinez has reached an agreement with Inter Milan club officials for a new multiyear contract extension deal.

The Argentine striker has a mere two more seasons remaining on his current contract, but his pending deal with the club will extend his contract for four or five more years. More so, the striker will earn €6 million per season coupled with bonuses with this new deal.

The two sides are expected to soon finalize the agreement, which would then be followed by the official announcement.

Martinez had been in the rumor mill over the past months regarding a possible departure from Inter Milan.

Premier League sides Tottenham and Arsenal were among the clubs that had shown an interest in signing him to a permanent transfer deal.

For one, Sky Sports noted that Spurs were open to shelling out €70 million for the reigning Copa America winner. As Tottenham feared that Harry Kane would move to Manchester City, club officials had looked to Martinez as a possible immediate replacement for the longtime Spurs striker if he had left the club.

Amid the multitude of rumors linking Martinez to a move elsewhere, Inter Milan remained stern in its aspiration to keep the Argentine forward. Not only did Inter see that no club would have been willing to meet its staggering €90 million price demand for him, but Romelu Lukaku's transfer move to Chelsea further pushed the club to sway away any interested clubs in the forward.

Martinez's agent, Alejandro Camano, also halted the rumors linking the Inter Milan star to a departure; he recently mentioned that the Argentine talent would not engage in “conflict” with the club over this matter.

With Martinez set to stay on with Inter Milan, the club now shifts its focus to defending its Serie A title. Inter Milan has already clinched a pair of league wins this season, which includes the 4-0 home win over Genoa.
