Molly Davis, a guard for the Iowa women's basketball team, has missed the entire postseason due to an injury sustained during the final regular-season match against Ohio State. Initially, both Davis and coach Lisa Bluder were hopeful for her return in time for the NCAA Tournament, but Davis has not received medical clearance to compete yet.

On Thursday, Davis was seen practicing shots in a knee brace ahead of Iowa's Final Four game against UConn in a video shared on X, formerly Twitter, by Chelsie Brown of KCRG. However, the hopeful visuals took a turn when Davis was seen in an emotional and upset state during a conversation with Bluder.

Despite not officially declaring Davis out for the upcoming Final Four on Friday or the national title game on Sunday, should Iowa progress, Bluder's latest status update was less than hopeful. Bluder expressed her wish on Tuesday that Davis could participate once more during this tournament, especially considering it's her fifth and final year. While unsure of Davis' potential impact, Bluder emphasized her desire for Davis to experience an NCAA Tournament game this season.

Davis, who has started in 27 out of the 30 games she played this season, has contributed an average of 6.1 points and 3.1 assists, with shooting percentages of 53.9% from the field, 40.7% from three-point range and 85.7% from the free-throw line, via Gus Martin of the Des Moines Register.

Although Davis' potential return would provide the Hawkeyes with another option for ball-handling, thus relieving some pressure from Caitlin Clark, the inclusion of forward Sydney Affolter into the starting lineup has been instrumental in Iowa's successful postseason run. In the absence of Davis, Affolter has averaged 13.4 points and 7.3 rebounds over seven postseason games. Gabbie Marshall's influence has also been notable, especially her 14-point performance against Colorado, complemented by Kate Martin's substantial 21-point game against LSU.

The latest on Molly Davis follows Monday's dramatic Elite Eight match in Albany, New York, where Iowa, propelled by Caitlin Clark's record-breaking scoring performance, halted LSU's championship run. Flau’jae Johnson was the top scorer for LSU with 23 points.
