The Boston Celtics were able to grab a series-clinching 115-105 win in Game 7 on Monday night against the Washington Wizards on their home floor in the TD Garden.

The top-seeded Celtics now move on to the Eastern Conference Finals to face a daunting task in the defending NBA champion Cleveland Cavaliers led by a highly motivated LeBron James. However, before Boston shifts gears to that challenge that begins on Wednesday at home, All-Star point guard Isaiah Thomas revealed that it's the external doubt surrounding the team that is driving them in their deep postseason run, according to Chris Forsberg of ESPN.

“They didn't give us a chance [against the Wizards]. They didn't give us a chance when we were down 2-0 to Chicago. We got the No. 1 seed, they didn't give us a chance,” Thomas said after scoring a team-high 29 points in Monday's Game 7 triumph over Washington.

“They don't ever give us a chance, and we just keep going; we don't care about what others say.”

Thomas is leading the charge in that regard with a strong performance in Game 7 posting a double-double by scoring a team-best 29 points with 12 assists while Kelly Olynyk also poured in a playoff career-high 26 points on an efficient 10-of-14 shooting off the bench to move past the Wizards.

Thomas has relished as the primary offensive factor for the Celtics in the playoffs, especially in the seven-game series against the Wizards averaging 27.4 points on 44.9 percent shooting from the field and 46.3 percent from beyond the arc. This includes notching more than 25 points in four contests including a playoff career-high of 53 points in Game 2.

The Celtics have continued to deal with doubters throughout the postseason. They were deemed to be finished in the first-round matchup against the Chicago Bulls after falling behind 2-0 in the series but won the next four games to move on to the next round. Despite withstanding the Wizards in seven games, Boston is once again the underdog against the Cavaliers.

The external doubt surrounding the Celtics moving forward in the playoffs isn't anything new to Thomas as he has heard it all throughout his entire basketball career. This has centered around his size standing at 5-foot-9, but he has used that as extra fuel to push himself to become one of the top scorers in the league.

Regardless of what unfolds against the highly-favored Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals, it's clear that neither the Celtics nor Thomas will be lacking any motivation.
