Los Angeles Lakers rookie center Ivica Zubac has been ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering a right ankle sprain in Thursday's 119-104 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves, the team announced on Friday.

The 20-year-old was seen wearing a protective boot following the game and was able to put pressure on the ankle, but with the franchise tanking with nothing else to play for, there was no further need to evaluate his upside through the last seven games of the 2016-17 campaign.

With Timofey Mozgov and Luol Deng also done for the season, the Lakers will have to rely on Tarik Black's services at center. Black has hit 12-of-14 shots from the field in his last two games as an energy guy on the boards.

Los Angeles will play a back-to-back against the L.A. Clippers and the Memphis Grizzlies this weekend, but could get back rookie small forward Brandon Ingram, who is listed as probable for this weekend, according to Mark Medina of the L.A. Daily News.
