Earlier this offseason, J.J. Redick made the decision to leave the Los Angeles Clippers in free agency after four seasons to join the Philadelphia 76ers on a one-year, $23 million deal.

Despite being on a short-term contract, the 33-year-old is hoping to make Philadelphia his home through the remainder of his career, according to Jessica Camerato of NBC Sports.

“My hope is that this is a long-term thing and that I'm here three or four years and can finish my career as a Sixer,” Redick said Saturday.

All of this comes just a few days after Redick voiced that he believes Joel Embiid can be the centerpiece of a championship caliber team. His strong faith in the organization despite experiencing five consecutive losing seasons does indicate that he could be committed long term.

However, that may be out of his hands if Philadelphia is looking to keep their salary-cap space open next offseason for several top players will be available in free agency.

Redick has an opportunity to quickly find a prominent role with the 76ers as one of their top scoring options while also providing veteran leadership and shooting to their young core group of Embiid, Markelle FultzBen Simmons. He is off another productive campaign where he averaged 15.0 points on 42.9 shooting from 3-point range in 28.2 minutes per game.
