The Jacksonville Jaguars dropped a big one on all of us on Wednesday evening by deciding to fire first-year head coach Urban Meyer. This move felt inevitable for most, but this did not take away from the shock factor of the actual sacking. As it turns out, however, the players on the Jaguars weren't very moved by this rather drastic turn of events.

According to NFL insider Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network, the majority of the Jags player had the same savage reaction as soon as news broke regarding Meyer's removal from his post:

“I got an unsolicited text from an agent,” Garofolo revealed, “… they said, ‘Our firm represents multiple players on the Jaguars. We texted them to let them know that he was fired overnight and we got the same reply back from all of them: ‘✌️ ‘ That was the reply. That's what the locker room is feeling right now.”

Now with the benefit of hindsight, we can say that, with all the controversies Meyer was involved in throughout his tenure with the Jaguars, it isn't at all surprising that the front office decided to fire him. Apparently, even the players knew this was coming, and not only were they unsurprised by this development, but it sounds like some (most?) of them were even happy about it.

The Jaguars are heading into a new era and they will now look to put this entire Urban Meyer fiasco behind them.
