Jacksonville Jaguars running back Leonard Fournette is coming off a stellar rookie campaign that has quickly established himself as one of the top young talents at his position in the league.

Following that type of quick success in the NFL, Fournette has taken a more serious approach with his physical shape as has dropped his current weight to around the same number he was during his high school days, according to Jeff Duncan of NOLA.com.

The decision to further tone his body likely came due to the fact that he dealt with some lingering injuries his rookie year that limited his play in some fashion. Fournette is likely hoping that the lighter weight will allow him to move around more easily while avoiding any nagging injuries as the Jaguars will likely once again lean on him to play a major factor in the running game.

Fournette finished his first year in the league ranking eighth with 1,040 rushing yards along with being third with nine rushing touchdowns in 13 games played. This saw him post 100 rushing yards five times in the regular season including 181 yards against the Steelers in Week 5.

Meanwhile, he was also a major factor in the playoff crushing the Steelers again with 109 rushing yards and three touchdowns that helped lift the franchise to their first AFC Championship game in nearly two decades.

All of this helped Fournette join Fred Taylor as the only rookies in team history to rush for at least 1,000 yards while his 1,342 scrimmage yards and 10 total touchdowns were both the third most by a rookie in franchise history.

With the game plan expected to remain in the 2018 campaign, the 23-year-old could be primed to build off his rookie campaign with a more productive second year that could thrust him firmly in the conversations of best running backs in the league.
