Jacksonville Jaguars defensive tackle Marcell Dareus is facing not one, but two civil lawsuits alleging he committed sexual assault.

One is for an incident which occurred in early April this year. Per Chris Parentau of News4Jax, the plaintiff accuses Dareus of having sex with her while she was unconscious, and for exposing her to a sexually-transmitted disease which Dareus failed to disclose.

The other lawsuit is for an incident involving a woman who allegedly met Dareus in January 2017 during the college football national title game, per Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times. She claims Dareus, whom she met at a club, grabbed her breast and attempted “to put his hands between her legs” against her wishes.

The lawsuit also claims that the woman, who had blacked out after drinking, woke up in bed with Dareus and ”began to immediately realize that there had been sexual physical acts upon her person.”

There is currently no report of criminal charges being filed against Dareus for either case. A hearing on Dareus’ request to have the suit dismissed on the incident in January is set to be heard on August 9.

Dareus came over to Jacksonville in a trade with the Buffalo Bills for a conditional 2018 sixth-round draft pick in October. He played nine games with the Jaguars, recording 20 tackles and a sack. He had 28 tackles and two sacks in 14 games overall last season.

Dareus is no stranger to off-the-field problems. During his time with the Bills, he was arrested once for drug possession and suspended twice for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy. Obviously, these are much more serious offenses which should be taken very seriously by the team and the league.
