Utah Jazz guard Dante Exum will make his season debut on Thursday against the Phoenix Suns after a recovering from a shoulder injury.

According to Eric Woodyard of Deseret News, Exum has practiced twice with his team and is getting ready for a return.

Since being selected 5th overall by the Jazz in 2014, the 6-foot-6 point guard has suffered a string of injuries that have hampered his young career. During the 2015-2016 season, the Australian suffered a torn ACL which sidelined him for the rest of the year.

Per NBA.com, Exum suffered a should injury after landing awkwardly during a preseason game on October 6, 2017. He underwent surgery not long after and has been recovering for most of the season.

As a young, top pick who thrived in Australia, Exum clearly has potential on paper, but the injuries have marred his career so far and with little time in the season left, surmise it to say that Jazz fans shouldn't expect too much of Exum.

The Jazz are keeping a close eye on their prized 22-year-old guard. As reported by Kyle Goon of The Salt Lake Tribune, Jazz head coach Quin Snyder said:

“We’re continuing to monitor how he’s doing, but there’s not been a lot of contact in practice because of the games,” Snyder said. “But he’s involved in everything we can get involved in.”

In addition, Snyder expressed their plans not to place too much expectations on the point guard. They simply want to focus on his rehabilitation.

“We weren’t so much looking at Dante skillwise during the practice,” Snyder said. “We were looking at him physically, and we thought he looked good.”
