The Utah Jazz will be without their franchise star for the next couple of games at the very least. Donovan Mitchell isn't traveling with the team on their upcoming road trip due to a back injury.

Via Sarah Todd:

This is definitely not ideal, but it doesn't sound serious. On a positive note, the Jazz much rather have Mitchell miss time now as opposed to the end of the campaign or in the playoffs.

The 25-year-old is in the midst of another fantastic season, averaging 25.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, and five assists per game. Utah is currently 23-9, which is the third-best record in the NBA behind only the Phoenix Suns and Golden State Warriors.

The Jazz has also won three straight after beating the Luka Doncic-less Dallas Mavericks on Christmas Day in Salt Lake City, with Mitchell showing out for a game-high 33 points. His absence will definitely be felt, but Utah has more than enough depth to win for the time being. Jordan Clarkson will likely see more minutes, while the likes of Rudy Gobert, Mike Conley, and Bojan Bogdanovic will be relied upon to step up and pick up the slack offensively.

Mitchell's next chance to play will be on New Year's Eve against the Minnesota Timberwolves at home.
