The Utah Jazz announced Monday star guard Donovan Mitchell will be available for Game 2 against the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday night, marking his first game since April 16 due to an ankle injury.

This comes after a drama-filled Sunday that saw Mitchell surprisingly miss a 112-109 Game 1 loss to the Grizzlies with the ankle injury that had forced him to miss the last 16 games of the regular season. The guard had been expecting to make his return to the court for Sunday's game, but the medical staff decided to rule him out. Mitchell was reportedly upset with the decision and sent out a cryptic tweet overnight after the loss.

Mitchell is back now, though, and the Jazz will be happy to have him out there after the Game 1 stunner. Utah ran out to an early 14-point lead in the first half, only to fall apart and nearly get blown out. The home Jazz then made a final furious rally in the fourth quarter before falling short. Dillon Brooks and Ja Morant cooked Utah to the tune of 31 points and 26 points, respectively.

The Jazz missed Mitchell's presence offensively, as they shot just 42.0% from the field and 12-of-47 from 3-land. Mike Conley and Jordan Clarkson combined to shoot 3-of-19 from deep.

Before Mitchell went down with his ankle injury, he was averaging a career-high 26.4 points, 5.2 assists and 4.4 rebounds in 33.4 minutes per game. Utah went 52-20 in the regular season to earn the top seed in the Western Conference.

The Jazz didn't think they'd be welcoming Mitchell back to a series deficit after winning all those regular-season games, but now it's officially go-time for the All-Star. There will surely be some rust for the guard as he works his way back to his peak levels, so Utah has to hope that won't impact them negatively in Game 2.
