Things have not been going well with the Utah Jazz in the 2022 portion of this NBA season. They went 4-12 in January and lost veteran forward Joe Ingles to an ACL tear. Especially as they look to add reinforcements ahead of the trade deadline, they can ill afford to lose one of their contributors. Tragically, they have lost him for at least the rest of the season.

The Jazz will need to find a veteran to replace Ingles in their lineup while he begins his lengthy recovery process, which begins with an upcoming surgery. Despite the long road Ingles has ahead, the 34-year-old told Tim MacMahon of ESPN that he will undoubtedly come back strong after rehabilitating from the injury, no matter how long it takes.

“Literally no doubt,” Ingles told ESPN. “I know probably everybody says that when they're going through this. A few days post-injury, people might think I'm a little bit crazy. But you look at people who have been through this. The MRI was a little bit of a win, I guess, with it just being my ACL.

In 45 games this season, Ingles averaged 7.5 points, 3.5 assists and 2.9 rebounds. The 34-year-old is on an expiring contract, making him a candidate to be included in trades before the deadline on February 10. Utah is looking to obtain either Jerami Grant or Harrison Barnes and will need a big contract to make the trade work. Ingles makes sense as a player to move on from.

Ingles has provided shooting, defense and playmaking at a respectable level for eight seasons. The Jazz have developed him into a high-quality player, both as a starter and a bench option.
