With the Utah Jazz trading Derrick Favors to the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday night, Joe Ingles took to Twitter to thank his former teammate for the time together.

8 years with the @utahjazz, 5 years together! @dfavors14 was rumoured nearly every year to be traded. He came in everyday & went to work regardless. I’ll miss our pick n roll together but let’s not forget what Fav did for this franchise for 8 years! All the best brother!

Early on in his career with the Jazz, he struggled to see the floor, but the last few years he has been a big part of their success and next year will look a bit different with Favors not being in the starting lineup.

Favors is due $16.9 million this upcoming season, but it's not fully guaranteed until July 6th. The expectation earlier this offseason was that the Jazz would keep him, but after signing Bojan Bogdanovic to a four-year, $73 million deal, the Jazz didn't have a choice but to waive or trade Favors.

In return, the Pelicans will be sending two second-round picks via the Golden State Warriors to the Jazz.

Favors is still a solid NBA vet that should be able to contribute a lot to the Pelicans this upcoming season. He also should be able to help Zion Williamson in his transition to the NBA. This is another move by the Pelicans that shows they aren't rebuilding after trading away Anthony Davis, and that they are serious about making it back to the playoffs this season.
