Utah Jazz forward Joe Ingles just set the record straight on some previous comments he made, as he claimed in March he would be prepared to walk away from the NBA and not play another game in his life, if staying meant endangering his family.

The Jazz veteran noted he said this at a moment of ignorance several months ago, not knowing the full extent of what the novel coronavirus could do:

Since suspending the NBA season on March 11, the NBA has taken every possible safety measure to keep its athletes away from the virus, even urging teams to self-quarantine and remain in their local markets to avoid contagion by means of transportation.

This quote resurfaced well after the fact, but Ingles made sure to note he's ready to play whenever the NBA deems it safe to resume its season.

The league office has reportedly proposed a 70-game season, which would give most teams roughly about five more games to finish out before rolling into the postseason — aiming to lock down would-be lost local television revenue.

The Jazz are fourth in the West and will be jostling for positioning with the trailing Oklahoma City Thunder and the Houston Rockets.

Utah recently lost sharpshooting forward Bojan Bogdanovic for the rest of the season due to a right wrist surgery. That would likely mean Ingles is bound to rejoin the starting five after he was benched in favor of Royce O'Neale.

Ingles is averaging 9.8 points, 5.2 assists and 4.0 rebounds in 29.9 minutes per game. The 32-year-old Aussie is shooting 44.1% from the field and 39.7% on 3-pointers. He's a career 40.7% shooter from 3-point range.

The Jazz also lost a prominent figure in their history in Jerry Sloan, who coached the team for 23 seasons before his passing on Friday, May 22.
