Utah Jazz point guard Mike Conley wishes he could pinpoint exactly why the Jazz are struggling lately.

However, the veteran guard can't at the moment. The Jazz have lost three straight games and are going to move Conley to the bench, replacing him with Royce O'Neale:

When the Jazz acquired Conley from the Memphis Grizzlies, no one expected the lefty to struggle like this and get benched. Conley is averaging just 13.4 points, 3.2 rebounds and 4.1 assists on the season for the Jazz. He's shooting only 39.4 percent from the field, 35.2 percent from beyond the arc and 78.4 percent from the free-throw line.

The Jazz are 19-15 with Conley in the lineup and 36-21 overall on the season. Utah is in the fifth spot in the Western Conference standings.

Conley signed a five-year, $152.6 million deal with the Grizzlies in the summer of 2016. He’s making $32,511,623 this season and has a player option worth $34,502,130 for next season, an option he will surely pick up since he won’t make that type of money on the open market.

Utah lost to the Houston Rockets in the first round of the playoffs last season. The Jazz need Conley to play better as the season moves along. They will need the veteran to play at a near-All-Star level once the playoffs start so star shooting guard Donovan Mitchell doesn’t have to do everything on offense.
